Welcome to the Habsburg-Lorraine family tree post! This is a large mini project where by the end we will have met the henhouse that was Marie's family. I will post information in different installments, introducing the children of Maria Theresa and Francis I from eldest to youngest.
Maria Theresa and her husband Francis were proud parents, what she often referred to as her henhouse, together they had 16 children. I can not even imagine living with so many siblings....oh did I mention mostly sisters!!! By the time Marie was born, 1755, the youngest of the children lived together on the same floor of the household. The older kids lived separately.
Maria Theresa aka Mom
May 3, 1717- November 29, 1780
She was a hard worker and fell in love with her husband before they were married. A rare happy marriage among the ranks of royalty of the day.
And of course dad, Francis I, Holy Roman Emperor
December 08, 1708 - August 18, 1765
Francis was a devoted father and religious man. He died suddenly in 1765, and the shock of his death took a long hard toll on Maria Theresa. But before these sad times they had many good years raising the enormous family that we are soon to meet!
