Ladies Guide: Maintaining an 18th cent. Love Affair
"You must never tell your lover that you do not believe in God. As to your husband, it doesn't matter. But with a lover you must always keep a retreat open, and a religious scruple can end a love-affair at once."
Fabulous picture and great quote - I love the wit of 18th century gentlewomen and do hope this will be part of a series! (Have linked to this post on my blog to share the enjoyment!)
Pardon me, but I'm afraid I'll have to disagree with this statement. From the beginning of the affair you should be honest. If this gentleman does not share the same values you do, and if the affair ends up in a marriage prepare yourself for a great deal of discussions and conflicts. Remember this guy will be the father of your children. Be true to yourself...don't lie, because the one who will get hurt sooner or later is going to be you.
Whether you wish you could time travel to the court of Versailles or the Highlands of Scotland, this comprehensive guide will walk you through how to make and wear your 18th century dream gown.
LOL nice, but I think we need to come up with a more in-depth guide! ;-)
ReplyDelete@Marquis Jacques Yes I agree, a series in the works!
ReplyDeleteI like the guy in the pic, hahaha. He looks so "eighteenth-century".

It's helpful, but that religious scruples thing wouldn't work so well today...
