Nothing like a little terror to make a country come together....
For me, Robespierre is the ultimate forebear of Napoleon in French politics. Both men were brilliant with an honest concern for the good of their country. But, as a wise man once said, ultimate power corrupts ultimately and both fell into the pit of ultimate power. No one, after all, is incorruptible.
