Did we not just ask for such a thing recently?
A new TV series to look forward to! ....*drum-roll* ....Versailles!
According to news sources and thanks to a heads up from reader Jessica, it appears the writers of Madmen are teaming up to create a TV series about the court of Louis XIV. You could never know too much about this period or court life, and I have confidence we wont be let down!
Anne Thomopoulos is the executive producer for the new series. You may recognize her name from Rome, HBO's acclaimed TV series which has been called the most real Rome ever recreated! This alone ensures the show will be amazing!
Currently partners are being sought "to develop the series."¹ They should reach out to French and Saunders for some 18th century wit. A true sign of the times! Let's create a buzz so a good channel picks it up! I vote for Showtime.
I leave you with: (still makes me laugh!)
I would watch this for sure!
ReplyDeleteAnything hsitorical witha Soapy vibe is good!
I hope Showtime picks it up as well. Although I have HBO so it is on there ID watch it as well.
Thanks for this heads up
@Dani oh yes I would be thrilled for HBO too! Anything really! I can't wait to see the cast
ReplyDeleteSounds interesting! I hope a show about 18th century France can stay on the air. And that they find people that look more like the original to play them. In the Marie Antoinette movie hardly anyone look like the original people.
ReplyDeleteI would sooooooo watch this!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis would be great! The moment The Tudors ended, I was longing for a Versailles version. But even though Louis XIV court is perhaps more appropriate for a television show, I am still going to miss not being able to see Marie. But still I can't wait, I want to know what the name and when it will come out! (P.S. for anyone interested Showtime is coming out with another period drama called The Borgias about an Italian Renaissance noble family)
ReplyDeleteTerrific! Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait! Versailles is just full of drama so the show practically writes itself!
ReplyDeleteShowtime wont pick it up most likely due to the fact that they are getting ready for the Borgias. WHich I am very excited for as well!
ReplyDeleteI hope they don't mess the costumes up with too much creaitve license like in the Tudors... I'm skeptical. Ah, and I wish they would have done Louis XV or XVI instead... that probably was too cute and not scandalous in comparison, I guess.
ReplyDeleteOh what fun! I can hardly wait.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy! But you do have to assume that it will not be very accurate. Just look at how poorly the Tudors was done...
ReplyDeleteI foresee a future plethora of fops due to this series.
ReplyDeleteOh my, that is something I really want to see!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for the series. Not only is this one of my favorite time periods, but Versailles is one of my favorite places to visit.
ReplyDeleteis there a premiere date set yet!?
ReplyDeletethe borgias will be badass too. but i love french history so much better. who doesnt like the sun king? i wonder which actor will play him.
ReplyDeleteLooks like I'll have to upgrade my cable.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see a show about the reign of Louis XVI and the revolution, but I will be more than satisfied with 17th century Versailles... This is the best news ever (well sort of)...I have to post this on my blog immediately...^^
ReplyDeleteOh my goddess, I cannot wait for it to be aired! Should be interesting to see the cast, too.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to this show? Is it made? Aired? Being made? Have been made and is about to air?
