Royal Treasures from the Louvre: Louis XIV to Marie-Antoinette

When the Louvre sends art work to you, you go visit it!  The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco has just opened their latest exhibition: Royal Treasures from the Louvre: Louis XIV to Marie-Antoinette.

The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco have been in conversation with the Louvre in hopes of arranging this five year agreement for programming, and now it is on! So we can expect to see more special collections traveling to California for display.

This exhibition features a special rare collection of items both bought and commissioned by those such as Louis XIV, Madame du Barry, Marie Antoinette, Louis XV and Louis XVI.  This show is particularly special because it is the first time that many of the works have ever left France! If you can, be sure to check this show out before it ends.  November 17, 2012 - March 17, 2013

If you can't make it to the exhibit, you can still see the works and get all the details from the exhibition catalog (pre order!)
